Today I’m going to show you how to cook air fryer frozen chicken patties.
When you need to get something on the table because you’re just plain hangry, or the little ones are hanging onto you like ankle barnacles because they need some dinner, I have you covered.
Easy Air Fryer Frozen Chicken Patties
My air fryer gets a workout around these parts. I like it for making so many different things. From air fryer hot dogs, zucchini sticks (from scratch!), to even my 2 ingredient bagels!
I love using the air fryer to cook chicken patties from frozen because it only takes a fraction of the time that it would take to get these on the table if you were baking them in the oven. And the patties are so versatile, so keep a box of them on hand in your freezer!
Main Ingredient List
- Chicken patties – In the name of convenience and quickness, I’m using store-bought chicken patties, but if you have frozen, homemade chicken patties, those are perfectly fine for this recipe as well. If the patties you use are more than a half-inch thick, adjust your cooking time for a bit longer. I’ll give more notes in the recipe card below.
- Cooking spray – I like to use cooking spray for some things in the air fryer. Particularly ones with a coating/batter. It helps give the food a more deep-fried flavor with a fraction of the calories. I use avocado oil in a special food grade spray bottle, but go ahead and use your favorite spray. You don’t have to use a spray oil to cook them, but I like the extra crispiness spraying with oil offers when air-frying.
For your burger, should you choose to make it the way I did:
- Sliced Cheddar – Cheddar is my favorite for any type of burger. I used a pre-sliced sharp cheddar, but if American cheese or sliced marble is what you have, get it on there!
- Hamburger buns – Soft, fluffy burger buns that fit the size of the patty are my favorite.
- Tomato and Lettuce – The freshest you have on hand is the best!
- Condiments – I like to have mustard, ketchup, and mayo, but you should use your favorite burger condiments.
How To Cook Frozen Chicken Patties in the Air Fryer
PREP: Preheat the air fryer to 400F
Step 1: Remove the frozen chicken patties from the box and set them inside the air fryer basket after it’s finished preheating.
Step 2: Air fry the chicken patties for 10-12 minutes, flipping them once halfway through the cooking time. When the cooking time is done, you’re complete with the air frying of the chicken patties. However, if you want to use them to make the burgers, carry on with step 3.
Step 3: While the patties are air frying, prepare the buns by placing on all the condiments you prefer to use. On the bottom portion of the bun, place the lettuce and tomato.
Step 4: In the last two minutes of cooking, place the cheese slices over the top of the patties to let them melt. Carefully with a spatula, lift the patties out and place them on the bottom portion of the bun. Place the dressed top portion of the bun on top, and you have a chicken burger!

Uses For Chicken Patties Air Fried In The Air Fryer
- As Is: Of course, you can simply air fry them as they come out of the box, maybe sprinkle a little extra seasoning of your choice on them and eat them just like that or, with melted cheese on them.
- Burgers: As I showed in the tutorial today, it’s super simple to make your own chicken burger using frozen air-fried chicken patties from frozen. Add some buffalo sauce and make an air-fried buffalo chicken burger!
- Salads: Another idea is after they are cooked, cut them up into cubes and use them on top of your salads. Add extra seasoning to them if you prefer, and they could almost be a replacement for your croutons!
- Chicken Strips: Air fry the chicken patties as explained in the recipe card, and then cut them into strips, and pair them with some fries and dipping sauce! Little ones will love that! (And in a cubed shape, they could be ‘nuggets’!)
- Hot Chicken Sandwich: Air fry the patties, and while they’re cooking, prepare a good packaged gravy and toast some bread. Serve by placing the crispy chicken patty on top of the toast and pouring some gravy over top!
Today, for air frying the patties, I used my Cosori air fryer. I have the air crisper that comes with the multipurpose Ninja Foodi, as well as a Ninja air fryer. Regardless of the brand you use, the instructions will be the same.
Storing
The chicken patties will stay fine in the fridge for up to 4 days and to reheat them, preheat the air fryer to 350, add them to the basket and reheat for about 3-5 minutes. If you previously added cheese the last time, you can add another slice on top to have fresh melty, gooey cheese, or skip using the air fryer and reheat in the microwave for 1 minute.

Air Fryer Chicken Patties from Frozen
Air fryer frozen chicken patties are not only quick, but they're great to make in the air fryer because they turn out so crispy! They're versatile to use on anything from burgers to salads!
Ingredients
- 2 Chicken Patties, breaded, frozen
- Oil for frying
- 2 buns (Optional)
- 2 slices of cheddar (Optional)
- Condiments as desired (Optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees for 5 minutes.
- When the fryer is preheated, place the parchment liner in the basket (If using), and place the frozen chicken patties in the basket in a single layer.
- Spray with spray oil to help get them super crispy.
- Turn the air fryer down to 350 degrees and cook for 10 - 12 minutes, flipping halfway through.
- If you want to add cheese, at the 11-12 minute mark, open the air fryer basket, place the cheese on top, and air fry for one to two minutes or until the cheese is melted and gooey.
- Assemble the chicken patties in the burger if that's what you want to make with them. Enjoy!
Notes
If you're not making chicken burgers, remove the patties when cooked and let them rest on a plate. Continue to use them as you prefer.
When you flip the patties, feel free to give them another quick spray to get that second side nice and crispy as well.
To reheat the patties, preheat the air fryer to 350 and air fry for 2-3 minutes or until warmed through. Be careful not to overcook them as they may dry out.
If you use the parchment liners, do not put them in the air fryer as it's preheating. The liner can fly around and touch the top element, causing it to burn or catch fire.
