How To Make Chocolate-Dipped Santa Oreos
- Step 1: Line a large baking sheet with wax or parchment paper.
- Step 2: In four small bowls, melt the white chocolate in the microwave, heating in 15-second intervals and stirring in between.
- Step 3: Once melted, add red, yellow, and brown food coloring to three of the bowls one at a time. If you prefer, you can use milk chocolate instead of brown food coloring. Leave the fourth bowl untouched for the white chocolate buttons.
- Step 4: Using a fork, dip the Oreos into the red chocolate, turning them to ensure they are fully coated. Gently tap the fork to remove any excess chocolate, then place the Oreos on the parchment paper to dry.
- Step 5: Allow the cookies to sit at room temperature or refrigerate them until the chocolate coating is completely set.
- Step 6: Fill three piping bags with the yellow, brown, and white chocolate.
- Step 7: Start by creating the belt using the yellow and brown chocolates. Finish by adding white chocolate buttons as the final touch.
- Step 8: Store the decorated cookies in the refrigerator until you’re ready to serve.

Serving and Storing
These red chocolate-covered cookies are perfect for the holidays and they look so cute on the dessert table platter or served on a pretty white dish. Whip these up in bulk to add to Christmas goodies bags, use as a no-bake option for the Christmas cookie exchange, or be the Christmas elf in the work break room. After all who doesn’t love Oreos?
Another super fun idea is to assemble these Reindeer Hot Chocolate Jars and gift them along with a few of the Santa suit cookies on the side as a delicious, themed gift!
One huge advantage of these chocolate-dipped Oreos is that they can be made ahead of time and stored for when you’re ready to serve or gift them.
If you make these ahead of time or happen to find yourself with some leftovers (not very likely) know that they do tend to store well kept at room temperature with no issues until the expiration date of the earliest dated ingredient. The ideal room temperature to prevent softening or melting is between 68° and 76°F.
You can also keep the finished cookies in your freezer in an air-tight container to help prevent freezer burn. To thaw, keep them at room temperature with an open lid to prevent any sweating or condensation on top of the chocolate.
Helpful Tips and Variations
Try sprinkling some pretty red or gold glitter over top the gold and red portions of the cookie to add some extra pizazz to the decorations.
Using two different types of filled Oreos can add in some of the surprises of eating the cookies – you never know which kind of filling you’ll get until you bite into it.
Instead of piping on the buttons, try adding some sparkled candy to mimic the buttons would be adorable!

Santa Oreos
This delightful recipe transforms classic Oreos into miniature Santa suits using vibrant red chocolate and decorative accents. Crunchy, creamy, and covered in sweet chocolate goodness, they're as enjoyable to make as they are to eat!
Ingredients
- 10-12 Oreo cookies, your choice of flavor
- 1½ cups white chocolate chips
- food coloring, red, brown and yellow
Instructions
PREP STEP: Line a large baking sheet with wax paper or parchment paper.
Step 1: Using 4 small bowls, divide the chocolate equally into the bowls. Melt one bowl of chocolate in the microwave, melting in 15-second intervals, stirring between each interval.
Step 2: Add a drop or two of red food coloring to each bowl.
Step 3: Dip the Oreos into the chocolate, using a fork to flip and coat the other side. Use the fork to lift the cookie out of the chocolate and shake off any excess chocolate then place it on the parchment paper to dry.
Step 4: Let the cookies sit at room temperature or chill until the coating has fully set.
Step 5: Melt another bowl and color it with brown food coloring. Put it into a piping back and pipe the belt onto the cookie, keeping it just below the halfway mark of the cookie. Chill until set.
Step 6: Repeat the melting and coloring process with another bowl, coloring it yellow. Create the buckle. Chill.
Step 7: Melt the last bowl of white chocolate and do not color them as they will form the buttons of the suit. Again, fill the piping back and pipe three buttons above the buckle on the belt to form the buttons.
Step 8: Chill the cookies until completely set.
Notes
It's important to chill the cookies between each chocolate step so it won't mix with other colors once you pipe it on.
Feel free to skip the brown food coloring and use melted semi-sweet chocolate chips instead to form the belt.
