How to Make This Tequila Cocktail

Ensure that your vanilla ice cream is softened slightly to make blending easier. Gather all your toppings – whipped cream, chocolate sauce, sprinkles, and fresh strawberries.

Step #1: In a blender, add the vanilla ice cream, half and half, and the Tequila Rose strawberry liqueur. Blend the mixture on high speed until smooth and creamy.

Step #2: Pour the blended creamy cocktail into tall glasses, leaving some space at the top for toppings.

Step #3: Garnish time! Top the milkshake with a generous dollop of whipped cream. Drizzle chocolate sauce over the whipped cream in a decorative pattern. Sprinkle the sprinkles over the whipped cream and chocolate sauce.

Lastly, and perhaps one would argue, the most important garnish for the creamy cocktail, place a fresh strawberry on the rim of the glass or place it delicately on top.

Garnished with whipped cream, chocolate drizzle and a fresh strawberry, the cocktail sits with a white bowl of strawberries next to it.

Handy Variations and Recipe Tips

  • Ice Cream: Changing up the flavor by using a different ice cream flavor is a fun way to swap things around. A chocolate or fudge brownie-flavored ice cream goes amazing with Tequila Rose because strawberries and chocolate are best friends. Use strawberry, or strawberry cheesecake ice cream to echo those strawberry flavors and add even more decadence to this dessert cocktail!
  • Toppings: Have fun with the toppings. While this version has sprinkles, strawberries, and a chocolate drizzle, this is not a limit to what you can do. Try a fun cookie, some brownie bits, strawberry syrup (or even freeze-dried strawberry powder on top of the whipped cream! Wow!) and even some rose petals can make a great garnish or decoration that stands out for a fun twist.
  • Non-Alcoholic Version: Simply blend strawberry ice cream, strawberry milk or the half and half and garnish like the other cocktails. Using strawberry ice cream helps to concentrate the strawberry flavors.

Creamy Tequila Rose

Yield: 2 cocktails
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 1 minute
Total Time: 1 minute

This creamy Tequila Rose cocktail is part dessert, part drink, and all kinds of delicious. With its smooth strawberry cream liqueur base and just enough tequila kick, it tastes like a boozy milkshake made for grown-up celebrations.

Ingredients

  • 5-6 scoops of vanilla ice cream
  • 1/4 cup half and half
  • 1/2 cup Tequila Rose strawberry liqueur
  • Whipped cream for topping
  • Chocolate sauce for topping
  • Pink sprinkles for topping
  • Fresh strawberries for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a blender, add the vanilla ice cream, half and half, and the Tequila Rose strawberry liqueur. Blend the mixture on high speed until smooth and creamy.
  2. Pour the blended creamy cocktail into tall glasses, leaving some space at the top for toppings.
  3. Top the milkshake with a generous dollop of whipped cream. Drizzle chocolate sauce over the whipped cream in a decorative pattern. Sprinkle the sprinkles over the whipped cream and chocolate sauce. Add a fresh strawberry to the rim of the glass.

Notes

Scooping: It's a good idea to leave the ice cream out for 5 minutes to soften slightly to it's easy to scoop into the blender.

Blending and Consistency Tip: If the mixture is too thick for your liking, add a splash of Tequila Rose, half & half, or even water and blend again until incorporated. If the milkshake is too thin, add a scoop or two of vanilla ice cream and blend until you achieve that smoothie/milkshake consistency.

Make Ahead: Blend the basic ingredients of the cocktail together and hold it chilled in the freezer before serving. Just before you want to serve, re-blend, pour into glasses, and continue on to garnishes!
