If you love Pop-Tarts but wish they would heat up more evenly ( ugh I hate the one side burns and the other is barely warm!), or wish you could make more at once, then making these air fryer pop-tarts will be your favorite new method!
Air-frying Pop-Tarts gives them that perfectly warmed, soft-yet-crispy texture that’s hard to achieve in a toaster.
And FYI, this works with off-brand Pop-Tarts too, giving them a bit more of a homemade vibe without the work of making your own pastries from scratch if you don’t have time for that.
Toastin’ Air Fryer Pop Tarts
Unless you want to make your own Homemade Pop-Tarts, toasting them in the air fryer is the quickest and most even way I think there is to get a super quick breakfast on the go. (Or snack, for that matter!).
Commercially made Pop Tarts come in different flavors and if I’m going to have them for breakfast, I like the fruity flavors over the chocolate-filled tarts. I like those (the chocolate ones) occasionally and will have those for a dessert or snack because they’re just so easy.
How to Make Pop-Tarts In The Air Fryer
Step 1: PREHEAT: Start by preheating your air fryer to 350 degrees. If you have a preset button for preheating, use that. Remember that it is essential to preheat your air fryer every time for the best results. Preheating is how you get the perfect crisp every time.
Step 2: ASSEMBLE: Place your pop tarts into your air fryer in a single layer. The larger your basket the more pop tarts you can cook at once. Note: I don’t recommend cooking more than one layer of tarts at a time. If you air fry them in layers, the ones closer to the element may burn before the ones below get toasted. Plus, they’re so quick to toast up, that it’s totally a breeze to do a few batches one after the other. There is no need to preheat after the first batch is done.
Step 3: TOAST: Cook your pop tarts in your air fryer for 3-4 minutes until the edges have turned golden brown.
Step 4: REMOVE AND EAT: Carefully remove the Pop-Tarts from your air fryer. A simple pair of tongs is the safest way to remove them without burning yourself.
Air Frying Pop Tarts From Frozen
If you have a freezer full of pop tarts because you found a great deal on them, (yay!), you will be happy to know that you can heat them up in the air fryer without having to leave them out to thaw.
Simply leave an extra 30 seconds to a minute into your routine to allow your air fryer to thaw the pop tarts before heating them.
Tips To Perfect Air Fried Pop Tarts
Super easy to follow but great tips on making your breakfast tarts perfect every time.
- Only air fry them in a single layer. If they’re stacked, the ones on the bottom won’t reach the heat as well as the ones on top.
- Remember to use something to take them out of the tray. I like to use either a spatula or some tongs because I’m not a fan of being burnt by hot icing. (I learned the hard way!).
- If your tarts are frozen, no need to thaw them first. Add extra air frying time to allow for the defrosting time before toasting them up.

Air Fryer Pop Tarts (Store Bought)
The easiest way to make air fryer pop tarts is here! Toast up some deliciousness for breakfast in record time without burning, or heating them unevenly.
Ingredients
- 4 Pop Tarts, your favorite flavor.
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 400 for 3 minutes. If the air fryer has a preset, preheating temperature button, use that.
- When preheated, line the basket with a parchment liner and add enough pop tarts so they aren't overlapping and are in a single layer.
- Air fry the pop tarts at 350 for 4 minutes, checking halfway through the cooking time to be sure of even air frying.
- When the cooking time is complete, remove the toaster pastries using tongs or a spatula to protect your hands.
- Let cool for a minute or two and enjoy.
Notes
If the pop tarts are frozen, add another 30 seconds to 1 minute of cooking time to account for defrosting.
Don't overlap the pastries in the basket. They need the hot air to toast properly.
Be very careful when handling them after they're cooked. They'll be hot!
