Do you love bagels? You will really love these easy 2 Ingredient Air Fryer Bagels you can make right at home in no time at all.
They’re light, fluffy, and delicious. The best part is that they are so easily customizable!
Why I Think You’ll Love These Air Fryer Bagels
These air fryer bagels are perfect for breakfast, brunch, or even as a snack. They’re soft, chewy, and packed with flavor, and they’re so easy to make that you’ll want to whip up a batch every week! Because this recipe is so basic it is perfect for customizing and making into any flavor you love. Best of all, these bagels are much healthier than traditional bagels, since they’re made with Greek yogurt instead of butter or oil.
Groceries Needed To Make Bagels In The Air Fryer
- Self-rising flour – Self-rising flour is pretty much sold in every grocery store nowadays. However, you can easily make it yourself if you don’t have any on hand, or can’t find it in the store.
- Plain Greek yogurt – I prefer to use yogurt that has a higher fat content. I feel it works nicer in these bagels as well as makes them taste a bit richer than using regular yogurt.
Optional Pantry Items
- Nonstick spray or oil
- Melted butter
- Seasoning of your choice (such as everything bagel seasoning, sesame seeds, or cinnamon sugar)
How to Make 2 Ingredient Bagels
Step One: Preheat your air fryer to 350°F and spray the basket with nonstick spray or oil.
Step Two: In a mixing bowl, combine the self-rising flour and Greek yogurt until a dough begins to form. The dough should be slightly sticky but not too wet.
Step Three: Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead it for a few minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. Cut the dough into eight equal-sized pieces and roll each piece into a ball. Use your thumb to poke a hole in the center of each ball, making sure to stretch the dough evenly around the hole.
Step Four: Place the bagels in the air fryer basket and brush the tops with melted butter. Sprinkle on your favorite seasoning or toppings, such as everything bagel seasoning, sesame seeds, or cinnamon sugar.
Step Five: Air fry the bagels until they are golden brown and cooked through. Remove the bagels from the air fryer and allow them to cool for a few minutes before serving.
Variations For Different Flavors Of Air Fried Bagels
You can also experiment with different toppings and seasonings to make these bagels your own. Try adding some garlic powder and grated Parmesan cheese for a savory twist, or drizzling them with honey and sprinkling them with chopped nuts for a sweet treat.
What To Serve With These Bagels?
- Classic bagel toppings don’t get any better than cream cheese! Spread a thick layer of plain or flavored cream cheese on your bagel for a creamy and tangy contrast to the chewy texture.
- If you prefer a sweeter breakfast, try spreading some butter and your favorite jam on your bagel. Strawberry, raspberry, and apricot are all great choices.
- For a healthy and savory option, try slicing some avocado and placing it on your bagel. Sprinkle with a bit of salt and pepper for added flavor.
- These bagels make a great base for a breakfast sandwich! Cook up some scrambled eggs and place them on your bagel with a slice of cheese and some cooked bacon or sausage.
- For a Mediterranean twist, spread some hummus on your bagel and top it with sliced cucumber, tomato, and feta cheese.
- If you have a sweet tooth, try spreading some nut butter (peanut, almond, or cashew) on your bagel and topping it with a sliced banana. Drizzle with honey or maple syrup for added sweetness.
Storing Leftovers
Store these (and any other bagels) in a zip-lock bag in your refrigerator for up to a week. Keeping them in the fridge will make them last longer and help prevent spoiling.
You can freeze these bagels as well. Make them up to the point of air frying. Freeze them on a parchment-lined baking sheet in a single layer. When they’re frozen, place them in a freezer-friendly container and keep them up for three months.
Thaw them overnight or on the counter for a few hours and then proceed as normal to air frying. This is a great make-ahead option for meal prepping.
Store-bought bagels often have a handful of extra oils, flavorings, and preservatives to make them last longer on the grocery shelf. These yogurt bagels don’t need those artificial additives because you’re making them fresh. Most importantly, these air fryer bagels have a lot more protein in them than commercially made bagels, thanks to the yogurt in the dough.
Sure can! Beat the egg well and add it at the same time you’re adding the yogurt. The benefit of adding the egg is that it will act as a secondary leavening agent in the dough, giving you an even bigger rise to your bagels. They will just be 3 Ingredient Bagels now!
