These Sheet Pan Philly Cheesesteaks deliver all the juicy, cheesy, savory goodness of a classic sub shop favorite, but with approximately 90% less messy kitchen.

Let’s get to roasting!

🌟 Ingredient Notes
Nothing out of the ordinary here, all these ingredients can be found at your local grocery store.

- ✅Shaved Beef – No ribeye at the store? Sirloin or flank steak sliced thin against the grain works too, just partially freeze it first so you can get those paper thin slices. Ground beef is a shortcut option if you’re in a rush, though you’ll lose the classic strip texture cheesesteak fans expect.
- ✅Green Bell Pepper – Red or yellow bell pepper swaps in easily and actually adds a touch more sweetness than green. If peppers aren’t your thing, you can skip them entirely and lean harder into extra onions and mushrooms instead.
- ✅ Yellow Onion – Sweet onions like Vidalia caramelize even further and mellow out nicely if you want less bite. White onion works in a pinch, just expect a sharper flavor since it won’t break down and sweeten the same way.
- ✅Sliced Mushrooms – Cremini or baby bella mushrooms give you a meatier, deeper flavor than standard white mushrooms if you want to lean into that umami note. Not a mushroom person? Just leave them out, the peppers and onions will still carry plenty of flavor.
- ✅Olive Oil & Worcestershire Sauce – Avocado oil works fine if that’s what’s in your pantry, it just won’t add flavor the way olive oil does. Soy sauce can stand in for Worcestershire in a pinch, though you’ll lose some of that tangy depth Worcestershire brings.
- ✅ Garlic & Onion Powder – Fresh minced garlic can replace the powder if you prefer, just add it partway through roasting so it doesn’t burn. Onion powder is harder to sub fresh since it’s really there for even seasoning coverage, not onion flavor (that’s what the yellow onion is for).
- ✅ Provolone Cheese – White American cheese is the other classic cheesesteak choice if you want that ultra-melty, glossy finish. Mozzarella works too, though it’s milder and won’t give you quite the same savory tang provolone brings.

✨ Serving Tips & Variations
- Honestly, I think a toasted, buttered bun is magical for these situations so butter open hoagie rolls and place them on the pan during the last few minutes of broiling for a quick toast.

- For a change (and a lower carb option), skip the bread and serve the beef and veggies over lettuce, cauliflower rice, or straight out of a bowl.
- Scoop the broiled beef and melty cheese straight into warm flour tortillas for a portable meal.
❓ Frequently Asked Questions
Don’t overcrowd your pan. Spreading everything in a single layer keeps the ingredients roasting instead of steaming in their own juices.
Slice your veggies and beef a day early and keep them in sealed containers in the fridge. Toss with oil and spices right before baking!
Shaved ribeye gives you the best tenderness and flavor,( however, can be quite pricey), so thinly sliced sirloin or flank steak works great too. Just be sure to always cut across the grain so the meat is naturally more tender.
🍽️ The Full Meal
Ready to turn these Sheet Pan Philly Cheesesteaks into a complete dinner spread? Here’s how!
If you want a cozy carb option to soak up all those rich pan juices, whip up a pot of rich 4-ingredient stick of butter rice. The savory, buttery rice cooks effortlessly in the oven as well while your sheet pan roasts in the oven, giving you the ultimate comfort food combination.
For that classic diner side experience, pair your beefy sandwiches with super crispy air fryer smashed potatoes. Cooking the potatoes in the air fryer keeps them super crunchy on the outside while keeping your main oven free for broiling the cheesesteaks!
To cut through all that rich meat and gooey provolone, serve a bowl of refreshing cucumber and pineapple salad. The crisp cucumbers, juicy pineapple, and tangy dressing offer a bright, sweet contrast that cleanses the palate between salty, cheesy bites.

❄️ Storage and Freezing
- In the Fridge: Keep leftover beef and veggies in an airtight container for up to 3 or 4 days. Reheat in a hot skillet or air fryer for a couple of minutes to warm through.
- Can I Freeze It? Yes, but with a plan. Freeze the cooked meat and veggie mix in a freezer bag for up to 2 months. Thaw in the fridge and reheat before melting fresh cheese on top!
One-pan meals like this prove that you don’t need a flat-top grill or a commercial kitchen to pull off restaurant-quality comfort food. Toss everything on a pan, melt that cheese, and let the oven do the work!

Sheet Pan Philly Cheesesteaks
Sheet Pan Philly Cheesesteak is an easy, flavor-packed meal made with tender beef, sautéed peppers, mushrooms, and onions, all smothered in melty provolone cheese. Everything cooks together on one pan for simple prep and easy cleanup!
Ingredients
- 14 oz Shaved beef
- 1 Green bell pepper, sliced into thin strips
- ½ Yellow onion, thinly sliced
- 4 oz Sliced mushrooms
- 2 tbsp Olive oil
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp Garlic powder
- ½ tsp Onion powder
- 8 slices Provolone cheese
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
- Slice the green pepper and onion into thin strips.
- Add the vegetables to a large bowl and drizzle half the olive oil, worcestershire and the seasonings then toss to coat the veggies.
- Arrange the veggies and meat on a greased sheet pan, then drizzle the rest of the olive oil, worcestershire and seasonings over the meat.
- Transfer the pan to the oven and bake for 12-15 minutes until the meat is done. Remove from the oven, arrange cheese slices, then turn the oven to broil and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and just slightly browned. Serve as is or on flour tortillas or rolls.
Notes
- Pop your empty sheet pan in the oven while it preheats. Spreading the beef and veggies onto a blistering hot pan gives you immediate sizzle and better caramelization!
- Dab your shaved beef with a paper towel to remove excess surface moisture before seasoning so it sears instead of steams in the oven.
- Buying a wedge of provolone and coarsely shredding it yourself melts into an ultra-velvety cheese curtain over every bite!
