Hi There
Thanks for Stopping By!
I’m Joanne Andrea, the food-loving creator, photographer, and recipe developer behind The Salty Pot.
If you’re all about delicious, no-fuss comfort food that’s easy to make, budget-friendly, and packed with bold flavors, you’ve found your cozy corner of the internet. From hearty home-cooked meals to savory, feel-good classics, I’m here to share recipes that bring warmth to your kitchen and joy to your table.
Grab a fork, get comfy, and let’s dig in!

How It All Started
Before The Salty Pot was even a thought, my first love was photography. I spent years capturing people, nature, and—most of all—food. My work has included stunning dishes for local restaurants, chefs, butchers, and even live cooking workshops, as well as beef and pork producer promotions. Through my photography website, I’ve had the privilege of seeing my work featured across the web and in print, including publications like Avenue Magazine.
But as much as I loved photographing food, I realized I loved creating it just as much. My passion for cooking runs deep, inspired by my Grandma Mary, who introduced me to the art of traditional Ukrainian cooking and preserving, and my father, who passed down Dutch culinary traditions through our long, heartfelt conversations about food. These influences shaped my love for flavorful, comforting home-cooked meals, which ultimately led to the creation of The Salty Pot.
What You’ll Find Here
Let’s be real—I’m a single gal, but that doesn’t mean I cook tiny portions. I love making full-sized meals and freezing portions for later, because Future Joanne always appreciates a stress-free dinner that’s ready to go. Sometimes, I keep things super simple with minimal-ingredient recipes because let’s face it, no one wants to dig through a pantry of ingredients every single time they cook.
Cooking for my mom, who has Parkinson’s, is also a big part of my life. I focus on easy-to-reheat meals that are simple to eat while still being delicious. That’s why you’ll find plenty of freezer-friendly recipes and portioning tips here, whether you’re cooking for yourself, your family, or someone who needs a little extra help.
My Recipes Are:
Why I Do This
For me, cooking is about connection—the comforting smells from Grandma’s kitchen, the joy of experimenting with flavors, and the satisfaction of making life easier for those I love, including you, my readers.
I’m not a trained chef, but I’ve spent years tinkering in the kitchen, figuring out what works and what doesn’t so you don’t have to. My goal? To help you feel like a kitchen rockstar, whether you’re throwing together a quick meal after a long day or batch-cooking to make life simpler.
